Mack Brumbaugh is interested in how digital technologies can disrupt the film and television industry in visible and invisible ways. His research focuses on streaming film and television platforms, exploring how AI-powered algorithms deconstruct and reconstruct traditional industry taxonomies, transforming how everyday users and executives alike understand film, television, and the industry broadly. Leveraging queer and feminist frameworks, Mack is interested in how streaming platform algorithms force expansive media texts into classifiable and normative categories and who benefits from these categorizations.
